Associate Director
Year I joined IP: 2019
What I bring to IP: I joined the Intentional Philanthropy (IP) team following five years at an Indianapolis-based family foundation where I was the resident grants-management guru, as well as a program officer for a portfolio of grantees. My experience working across many aspects of foundation operations enables me to have a broad understanding of what foundations need and be able to translate those needs into thoughtfully customized systems and grantmaking. Throughout my time at IP, I have been able to hone my strong and clear communication skills, as well as maintain a high bar for my work. The teamwork that is required to provide consistent quality for our foundation clients allows me to demonstrate a balanced approach that marries excellence and compassion. I received a B.A. from Indiana University-Purdue University in 2014 and an M.A. from the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy in 2016.
What I love most about my work: I love being able to work within a variety of topics, and research and develop new ideas. I really enjoy finding creative ways to meet clients where they are and being able to take the big picture and turn it into processes that clients can be proud of and that make a meaningful difference. Work is the most fun for me when I can help equip and empower others to determine their own success.
What I am most excited about learning right now: I am excited to be deepening my knowledge around tax law and to also be learning about how I can help clients build grant reporting systems that are meaningful to them and their grant partners.
What I do in a typical week: Every week is a bit different, which is fun! Depending on the week, I may be working on general foundation operations, researching an area of interest to a client, thinking about how to get a customized tool or resource of interest to a client, reaching out to grantees, or working on projects to grow IP’s internal efficiencies.
What I do when I’m not working: When I’m not in the office, you will likely find me working on projects for my antiques and home décor side hustle, salsa dancing, working outside in my garden, volunteering as a youth mentor, or simply enjoying time with my husband, friends and family.
What my coworkers say about me: Estherre is gentle and clever in everything she does. She brings an air of organized, calm collectedness to her work balancing many on-going projects and communicating things in a clear, engaging fashion.
